The birth of a contemporary mythology

Essenomes are mysteries of the artistic giving birth.
The Essenomes were born one day of summer 2006…

At first sight, what is astonishing is the immediate proximity of these representations, that deal with what is essential, with the common background of humanity which is intuitively recognizable.
Then Tigrane imagines a name for these strange characters. It will be “Essenome”, that means intrinsically the two axes of his emerging project. Firstly, the concept of “genome”, suggests the idea of a common base, of a common major identity, beyond the amazing ability the artist has to create real unique individuals as well as surprisingly similar ones. Secondly, the verb “essaimer”- “to scatter”. For Tigrane, it appears very quickly that the major direction of this project is all in moving and scattering. This polyptich must take life, some of the twelve paintings must leave, and then be replaced by others…
Little by little the idea of a picture in a perpetual movement, which would generate a diaspora all over the world , uprises. This would be still the same although different, bound in space and time by the last generations as well as by the next ones, like a tribe which would possess in its own essence the origin and the destiny of its history. Thus the generations would follow one another in an infinite proliferation, softly developing its tribal presence there and there in the world.
The story is in place, so the fiction is, holding up by ideas which, though lately expressed, corresponds to a long maintained reflexion. The rules of the game then are established, in which the questions of the identity, the transgeneration and the interconnection take a major place, as a tracing paper alighted upon our contemporary world.

An extremely modern thought and a great acuity underlie the creation of the Essenomes.
The construction of a world (the one in which the Essenomes are evolving), with its genesis, its beings, its architecture, its objects and also its codes draw in fine the outlines of a contemporary myth… from which one could easily imagine an original semiological prospective! For the invention of a contemporary myth, if you listen to what Barthes wrote about it, is nothing else but an attempt to decipher the mechanisms that found the culture of our time.
Through the Essenomes, Tigrane subtlety expresses the importance that the concept of “bond”, “community” and “network” have today, in paradoxical answer to the growing individualism of the modern consumerists societies. For, if the Essenomes are a tribe, within which the artist weaves filial bonds, other relationships are created: between the Essenomes and its owner, and among the owners of the Essenomes in the world, etc. The tribe of the Essenomes is superimposed on the tribe of their owners. Territories emerge, real or imaginary, that will have to be explored, conquered or shared… Like images of post modernity, in the way the sociologist Michel Maffesoli employs this word, the Essenomes thus illustrate how the contemporary tribalism, founded on the emotional choice more than on a rational one, on the elective bond more than on a familial or social one, is dedicated to develop in an exponential way, making a new sociality emerge.
