A
work in progress
Sensitive to the surrounding atmosphere, Tigrane knows how
to extract this work from the traditional context of an “achieved”
work, fixed on the wall.
He substitutes for it a work in progress.
“Inspiring” his work with a thickness of life, of history, of
temporality, Tigrane creates a work in a perpetual metamorphosis, nomadic,
beyond the stillness of the image. Moving in time and space, the Essenomes
operate “horizontal” displacements: the generations can be mixed,
can superimpose themselves… Moreover, like the contemporary man, their
diaspora, even though symbolic (when their owners settle them at the four
corners of the world), brings into play the questions of roots and identity
that are so crucial today.
Pushing further this reflexion, the artist provided each Essenome with a
name, determined according to a precise code. A true identity card, which
allows precisely to recognize it, anywhere it can be in the world, its place
in the tribe and among the generations. In the same way, each Essenome is
different from its fellow, as can be human beings, and tribal combinations
are thus infinite. All that gives to the Essenomes an additional existence,
made of individuality, of autonomy to some extent, and questions the sense
of identity in a world in full movement and in deep change, that has become
a planetary village where the differences, of richness, of ways of life,
have never been experienced so bitterly
